    Random reboots

Post by Taz on Wed May 18, 2011 9:07 am

I've been putting off bringing this up for over a week. Out of nowhere I'm getting random reboots. Sometimes it's back to back and other times it will go for hours and not reboot.

I saw on T-Mo forum someone said to update the music player... seems odd to me... I can not say it works or not because my Slate does not reboot. Well unless I make it reboot.

I've heard of crazier things. I'll update it while standing on one foot. That should do the trick. Appreciate it. i will deff give it a try. Hopefully it works.

Hmm...this is the first I've heard of this issue. I see you're rooted...which makes things interesting. I still would be inclined to believe that this issue is more app-related than root-related.

If updating the music player doesn't work, try uninstalling any apps you installed since just before the problem started (2 or 3 days prior should work). If it is an app issue, you should be able to narrow down by process of elimination which one is causing the random reboots. Have you installed any type of custom launcher?

Well I did the update and I have had one reboot. I agree Bling..seems like I'm one of the few that is having this issue. The reboots were happening before I rooted so I know that's not the issue. I'm gong to start uninstalling apps to see. It's going to be a pain because the reboots are so random that finding out which one has the issues is going to be a pain. I will let you guys know. Thank you for the help.

If it started before the root then it's definitely an app. Can you give me a list of what all you installed before it started happening?

    Hmmm...nothing too blatantly obvious.

Well, I know facebook has SERIOUS issues running on Honeycomb, and even more serious issues running on the G-Slate. The widget FC's non-stop, and the app will FC if you look at it wrong. I don't think that it is responsible for causing the reboots, but I'd uninstall it just the same. Or at least take the widget off your homescreen.

I imagine Desktop Visualizer is not helping stability-wise. This may be the source of the problem. But I could be wrong. Will install later to see if I have similar issues.

Don't know/can't find anything about Mobile Data. What does it do? Likewise with "my apps", unless you're talking about ShareMyApps.

I have SetCPU installed and it runs perfectly with no issues. I know others have it installed as well with, as far as I know, no issues. So while this app definitely has the potential to cause random reboots, I don't think it is the source of the problem.

I haven't gotten around to installing Volume+ yet, but I know others have it installed with no problems. Another potential app that could cause problems.

Not seeing anything too potentially threatening. If I were you, I'd uninstall, at least temporarily, the apps I discussed above to see if any one of them were causing the problem. If you still don't have any luck, you may be able to do a factory reset.
