    IRC channel

Post by Bete Noire on Sat May 07, 2011 7:08 pm

    irc://irc.freenode.net/g-slate

So, I've tried joining the channel via several IRC chat clients on my computer, an app on my G-Slate, and even through freenode's webchat browser-based access.

I've registered 2 nicks, identified them and still, while I can send private messages to other chatters, I can not talk in the channel. I get this system message:

#g-slate: can not send to channel

Don't know if anyone else is having any issues or has any idea of what else I should do....

I don't have anything fascinating to add to the conversation, so not a huge deal - just don't want to come off as some creepy lurker Razz

    Cheers!

    - Bete

ETA: When I do /msg nickserv listchans to find out what channels I have access to, I get:

-NickServ- No channel access was found for the nickname Bete.

I had multiple issues myself. Still cant access on G-slate. Get the same error msg. On my laptop i use mIRC...works great. Sorry u're having so many issues. Honestly i know nothing about IRC though. Your best bet is to google it or talk to deez as he runs the channel.

EDIT: When setting up the server, make sure to include the password you sent off to nickserv in the password section. That's what was keeping me from connecting.

Google says stuff about registering and identifying - but I've done that and can clearly log in and PM folks so.....

I've used mIRC, xchat & freenode's webchat on my computer and on my G-slate I've tried AndChat and AndroIRC.

    :/

When you set up AndChat, how did you do it? Fill in the blanks:

    Address:
    Port:
    Nick1:
    Username:
    Autojoin:
    Autorun:
Password: Don't type it, but make sure you're using the right one for the right nick.

Ok, future readers of this thread - we figured it out and you should be able to join the channel with no problems. It was an issue with permission settings by the channel operator.

Be sure to register your nick and to put in the command line Freenode sends back to you. And, be sure to identify yourself each time you log in with:

    /msg nickserv identify <password>

    See you in chat!

    Very Happy
